Upper headaches often feel annoying. This condition can be caused by many factors, one of which is a tension headache. The most common trigger for a person experiencing tension headaches is stress.
Actually headaches can occur in various parts of the head, such as in the back of the head, on the right or left side, above the eyes, as well as upper headaches, which are called coronal headaches. The emergence of pain in each part of the head has a background of different causes.
Causes of Upper Headaches
Upper headaches are generally experienced by people with tension headaches who often attack adults, especially women. Headaches can occur periodically or daily. It is called periodic if it occurs less than 15 times per month, and is called daily if it occurs more than 15 times per month. If it occurs for more than 60 days, this condition is called chronic tension headache.
Tension headaches are mostly caused by tense muscles in the neck and back of the head. Many things related to the occurrence of muscle tension, including:

Tension headache management is generally intended to relieve pain and prevent recurring conditions. Handling can be done in the following ways:
- Take headache relievers that are sold freely or prescribed by your doctor. The first type of drug for tension headaches is pain medication that can be purchased freely. However, you should consult with a doctor so that you are given drugs that are safe and in accordance with your health conditions.
- As a preventative measure, your doctor may recommend that you take antidepressant drugs, medications that relax muscles, medications to control blood pressure, or anti-seizure medications.
- Avoiding the factors that cause headaches, such as regulating a good lifestyle and managing stress.
However, it should be remembered that the consumption of drugs generally only relieves symptoms, and may not necessarily be able to overcome the cause. This medication should not be taken continuously in the long run. Because, these drugs have side effects and can lose their effectiveness.
It must be remembered, upper headaches are best treated when symptoms are just beginning to feel and are still mild, compared to just being treated when headaches are more painful and more frequent. The sooner it is dealt with, the greater your chances of recovery.
